Once you've experienced the creamy, garlicky goodness of Alfredo sauce atop a crispy, thin crust (not to mention the melted cheese and any other toppings you fancy), you'll never go back to the heavy, bready traditional pies of your past
1 Mixing bowl for preparing the pizza dough and other ingredients.
1 Measuring cups and spoons to accurately measure the ingredients, especially for the pizza dough and Alfredo sauce.
1 Rolling Pin to roll out the pizza dough into a thin crust
1 Pizza stone or baking sheet to bake the pizza in the oven. A pizza stone is ideal for achieving a crispy crust, but you can use an inverted baking sheet if you don't have one.
1 Parchment paper place the pizza on and easily transfer it to the pizza stone or baking sheet without sticking
1 Saucepan or skillet for making the Alfredo sauce. Choose a saucepan with enough capacity to comfortably hold the sauce ingredients and allow for stirring.
1 Knife and cutting board for preparing pizza toppings, such as slicing mushrooms or chopping spinach
1 Pizza Peel if you have a pizza stone, a pizza peel can be handy for transferring the assembled pizza onto the preheated stone in the oven. However, you can also use a flat, rimless baking sheet or parchment paper to slide the pizza onto the stone.
1 Oven to bake the pizza at a high temperature for a crispy crust and melted cheese.
Ingredients
For the pizza dough:
3¼Cups all-purpose flour
2 Tbspinstant yeast
2 Tbspsugar
1Cup warm water
2⅓Tbspolive oil
1Tbspsalt
For the Alfredo sauce:
1Cup unsalted butter
1½Cupsheavy cream
2½Unitscloves garlic, minced
1Cupgrated Parmesan cheese
Salt and black pepper to taste
A pinch of nutmeg
Sliced mushrooms
Shredded mozzarella cheese
Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
Fresh baby spinach leaves
Instructions
Step 1: Make the thin-crust pizza doughIn a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir in the warm water and olive oil until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Making the Alfredo sauce: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter, add minced garlic, and let it cook for 30 seconds. Pour in heavy cream while stirring constantly and turn up the heat to medium-high. Keep stirring until the sauce thickens (about 3-5 minutes).
Step 3: Stir Parmesan cheese then season with salt and pepper. Taste and adjust the seasonings if needed. Turn off the heat and set aside the Alfredo sauce to cool while you prepare the pizza toppings.
Step 4: Preheat the oven to 500F (260C). Grease a baking sheet or pizza stone with some olive oil and stretch out the dough to fit it. Place it onto the baking sheet/stone, then spread about 1/3 cup of Alfredo sauce over the dough (you can use more or less depending on your preference).
Step 5: Top with cooked chicken, spinach leaves, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese has melted. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
